STEICOzell blown-in insulation and STEICOflex batts, STEICOuniversal and STEICOspecial dry boards for roofs and render, STEICOmulti membranes, tapes and adhesives. For years we have been one of the few official STEICO distributors, so the whole system is in one shop and one yard, priced by the metre. The same products go into our own walls and roofs, so we know how they go together.
Layer by layer: where STEICO sits in our wall and roof
Not a catalogue: two build-ups from the thermal reports of our houses. The wood-fibre layers are marked. All seven build-ups with their numbers and PDFs are on the build-ups page.

Clay block with polystyrene, a frame with rock wool, or a frame with STEICO?
It is the question we hear most. Instead of adjectives: three walls worked out with the method the thermal reports use (EN ISO 13786), translated into what you feel in the house. Where masonry or rock wool does as well or better, we say so.

About PLN 55/m² more than with woolSTEICOzell between the studs even costs less than wool; the render board is what costs more. On the roughly 100 m² of walls of a single-storey 10 × 12 m house the difference is about PLN 5 500.about PLN 370/m² of materials

Layers taken as homogeneous, with no studs or mortar joints; the report for our wall with the studs gives 18.0 h and 94 times, this model 18.8 h and 93, so the proportions between the walls hold. Data: STEICO from its data sheets, rock wool at 35 and 120 kg/m³ with λ 0.035 and 0.036, a 25 cm clay block at λ 0.29 and 800 kg/m³, graphite polystyrene at λ 0.031 and 15 kg/m³, OSB µ 200. Summer can be described two ways. Damping at the inner surface (as in the reports) depends on the mass next to the room: masonry has more of it, 237 times against our 93, because it weighs five times as much. The heat that actually enters a room held at temperature (Y_ie per EN ISO 13786) depends on the whole wall: the STEICO frame lets the least through, and latest, masonry a touch more, the rock-wool frame twice as much. On top of that STEICO is 11 cm thinner than the masonry and the only one of the three that stays open to vapour: polystyrene seals the masonry (s_d 10 m).

Exactly: the STEICO frame costs PLN 58/m² more in materials than the rock-wool frame (PLN 373 against 315/m²) and PLN 106/m² more than the masonry wall (PLN 267/m²). On the roughly 100 m² of walls of a single-storey 10 × 12 m house the difference to wool is PLN 5 800.
Gross prices of September 2026 for the materials of a m² of wall, without labour, transport or waste. STEICO, C24 timber and OSB at our shop's prices (STEICOzell counted as bags at 45 kg/m³; the shop prices it together with blowing it in), rock wool λ 0.035, dual-density facade wool, graphite EPS λ 0.031 and a 25 cm clay block at typical retail prices. Studs 45 × 170 at 60 cm with plates come to about 2.7 m of timber per m² of wall; the thin-coat render system (mortar, mesh, primer, render) is counted the same for all three walls. Take it as an order of magnitude: prices move, the differences between the walls stay.
Five products
Which STEICO for what
Loose fibre for blowing into closed cavities, a springy batt between members, a thin board under the counter battens and thick boards under render. All from softwood, all vapour-open, all from one yard.
01
STEICOzell, blown-in insulation
Loose fibre from fresh softwood, blown by machine into closed cavities: walls, roof, floor. Fills any shape with no cutting and no waste, including the voids around services. 15 kg bags; packed to 35 to 45 kg/m³ in a closed cavity, about 32 loose on a loft floor.
A springy wood-fibre batt with the lowest λ in the range: 0.036. Pressed between studs and rafters it holds itself, with no bridges at the joints. For the service cavity, partition walls, under-rafter insulation and wherever blowing is not an option.
A hard, water-repellent tongue-and-groove board made by the wet process with lignin as the binder. On the rafters it closes the roof against rain and wind before the covering goes on; on a wall it stands behind ventilated cladding. Vapour-open, so moisture leaves the insulation.
The same job as universal, but made by the dry process: lighter, more stable and approved for render systems. Four jobs in one board: warmth, wind, rain and a render base. From 35 mm it can be blown against.
A thick board at 140 kg/m³ and λ 0.040: the warmest render board in the range. On the outside of a timber-frame wall it does what 120 mm of STEICO board does in our Premium wall: adds warmth, damps the bridges at the studs and carries the render. Thicknesses above 100 mm to order.
"From" prices are the shop's gross prices as of September 2026, technical data from STEICO's data sheets. Stock changes daily, other thicknesses to order.
Sealing
STEICOmulti: membranes, tapes and adhesives for the same system
Insulation works when the build-up is tight to wind outside and to vapour inside. Eight products that close it, from the same yard.
STEICOmulti UDB
Highly vapour-open breather membrane, s_d 0.02 m; for roofs and for walls behind cladding. Roll 1.5 × 50 m.
Variable vapour control: tight in winter, opens in summer to let moisture out of the build-up. For refurbishments and unventilated roofs. Roll 1.5 × 50 m.
0.036W/(m·K): the λ of the STEICOflex 036 batt, as good as good mineral wool
2100J/(kg·K) of specific heat: twice that of wool, which is why the build-up stays cool in summer
18hours of phase shift in our Premium wall: the midday heat reaches the inside at night

Typical values for each class of material; STEICO from its data sheets, the others from manufacturers' declarations. Indicative prices per m² at 10 cm: STEICO from the shop (blown zell, flex batts, September 2026), rock wool and graphite polystyrene from typical market prices. Wood fibre and rock wool cost about the same; polystyrene is cheaper, but seals the wall to vapour. Summer comfort comes from density times specific heat: that is why wood fibre delays the heat and light polystyrene does not.

STEICO materials are sold by our advisors in Góra Motyczna, Jasło and Gorlice. Call or write with your build-up and they will get back to you with thicknesses, quantities and a price. We help after the sale too: with questions about fitting, come back to a branch or call.
Zell is loose fibre blown by machine into a closed cavity: it fills it tightly, with no cutting and no bridges, but you need the machine. Flex is a springy batt laid by hand, so it suits open or small cavities: the service cavity, a partition wall, insulating from inside. In our houses the walls and roofs are blown with zell and flex goes into the service cavity.
Its reaction-to-fire class is E, like most organic insulation and polystyrene. In a build-up it is boarded in and rendered, so the fire resistance of the wall depends on the whole layer, not the insulation alone. Under fire, wood fibre chars slowly and does not melt or run like polystyrene, which buys time in a fire.
STEICOspecial dry (60 to 200 mm) or STEICOuniversal dry (35 and 40 mm): both are approved for render systems. STEICOuniversal 22 mm, made by the wet process, is a sarking board for roofs and for behind ventilated cladding, not for render. The thickness follows the U-value you are after: our Premium wall has 120 mm of board outside.
Yes. We are an official STEICO distributor and every product on this page is in the online shop with prices per metre, with collection in Góra Motyczna or delivery to site. If you would like us to blow the insulation in too, size the layer on the insulation page and send the dimensions.
